After everything is done and decorated, we all think that, hey, maybe we have a breather. However, that is not always the case. After all, you have gone to all the trouble to decorate your home, so you want to show this off. What does this mean? It means that while you may have hung all the Christmas ornaments with care on your tree, it is time to ensure the house is spotless when you are hosting people at your home during the Christmas season.
But, what most people do not realize until they have to deal with this type of cleaning on their own is that Christmas ornaments can great a huge mess. Not every ornament, but those who have ever had Christmas ornaments with glitter all over them know exactly what this means. Glitter is one of those items that you either love it or you hate it.
The Enduring Popularity of Glittered Christmas Decorations
Don’t be surprised if you have numerous glitter ornaments on your tree if you do not find glitter all around the tree. And if you have a pet that brushes up against this tree with the glitter, he or she will have this on their fur and then transfer this to other areas of your home. It can create a real mess, that is for sure! And it seems that no matter how much you vacuum, there is always glitter to be found. In fact, you may find glitter even weeks after putting away the tree and all the Christmas ornaments.
So, whether you love or hate glitter, you are going to find that when the Christmas season rolls around, it is out there in full force. So, what can you do to make this easier on you since you will be cleaning this up? Here are a few tips that many people swear by:
1. Instead of constantly vacuuming around the tree, tell everyone the glitter is the sign that Santa’s elves have been by. Kids love this…and for parents, it means just one less thing to clean every day.
2. Discourage pets from brushing up against the tree. Consider putting pet gates around the tree in order to keep them from gaining access to this.
3. Put down a tree skirt that you can easily wash and clean when it is covered in glitter. Or you can find a tree skirt that is all about the glitter and just embrace this.
The bad news is that when it comes to glitter, there is no certain solution that is going to ensure the glitter is not taking over. Glitter is one of those elements that seems to stay around for a while, so just embrace it and enjoy Christmas.
